Medical Solutions

Medical Device Adhesives

Our medical device adhesives cover a variety of chemistries, providing you with a wide range of choices and assembly solutions. These include LOCTITE® LED and UV light cure adhesives, cyanoacrylate adhesives, epoxies and polyurethanes. Products are available in different viscosities and are compatible with common sterilization methods such as ethylene oxide, gamma radiation, electron beam, liquid sterilization and limited cycles of autoclave and peroxide plasma.

Medical device adhesives are tested to the industry’s most comprehensive ISO 10993 biocompatibility standards. Henkel offers light cure adhesives formulated with focus on safer ingredients for use in medical devices including wearables. Medical Adhesives, Gels, and Foams

Henkel’s LOCTITE® and TECHNOMELT® brands consist of a large product portfolio of adhesives and sealants for everything from medical devices and equipment to tapes and bandages. We also offer a robust line of UV cure adhesives that are suitable for a variety of medical device assembly applications.

Medical adhesive gels and foams are used for a variety of applications from wound and scar care and transdermal patches, to gasketing and sealing in medical devices. Medical adhesive foams are ideal for dressing wounds since they are breathable and highly absorbent while providing cushioning and an effective barrier against bacteria. It is essential that skin-contact applications provide good adhesion that does not cause skin irritation and that is painless to clean and remove.

Medical adhesive gels offer a gentle but tough and highly flexible solution for a variety of medical applications, such as transdermal drug delivery, device fixation, ECG signaling, defibrillation electrodes, TENS, and wound care.

Electrically Conductive Inks & Coatings

Henkel’s electrically conductive inks and coatings provide medical device manufacturers with cost-effective, high performance, and reliable materials for a wide variety of applications. Whether for glucose management, moisture sensors, smart health patches, or general medical assembly, our electrically conductive inks and adhesives are sure to meet your specific device requirements.

Encapsulation Materials

Encapsulation and underfill materials protect fragile electronic components from damage. Durability and reliability are key when it comes to using encapsulation materials for implantable biomedical devices for cardio and neuro applications as well as for hearing aids. Henkel offers a range of high-quality encapsulation solutions are ideal for a range of medical applications.

Low Pressure Molding

Medical wearables for monitoring vital signs such as respiratory, cardiovascular and glucose levels continue to be integrated into patient’s everyday life. The electronics on these devices need to be protected from environmental factors like moisture, temperature and chemicals. Catheters, tube sets, connectors and hearing aids also require gentle encapsulation of sensitive components.

Low pressure molding is a cost-effective process to overmold and encapsulate sensitive components, offering fast cycle times and the advantage of lower pressure compared to traditional injection molding. Low pressure molding also provides design freedom to customize part geometry, surface texture and color, while also enabling complex and intricate assemblies.

3D Printing Solutions

3D printing medical applications have included device components, manufacturing aids, orthotics and anatomical models. LOCTITE® 3D Printing offers end to end engineering solutions for additive manufacturing which includes: unique portfolio of engineering resins for manufacturing functional parts; an ecosystem of partners and solutions; post processing as well as simulation, design and validation support throughout the 3D printing journey.

Medical Protective Wear

Keeping people safe is the primary goal of medical protective wear. Whether healthcare workers, their patients or community at large, these products are designed to safeguard people from high-consequence infectious diseases (HCIDs) along with blood, bodily fluids, and bloodborne pathogens. Adhesives are a key component of medical protective wear to create the layers or seams to assure safety in masks, respiratory protection, gowns and surgical drapes.
