Engineering Systems - Tailor-Made FIP (Formed-In-Place) Mixing and Dosing Systems!

Mixing Head, Material Preparation, Process Control and Automation Layout, Lndividually Configured

Increasingly, product life cycles are becoming ever shorter, leading to new forms of construction and designs of various industrial components. For this reason, there is a high demand for mixing and dosing systems and automation solutions that can be flexibly adapted to meet every requirement. Our core competence includes developing, consulting, and selling appropriate technology regardless of whether you want to operate a stand-alone unit from us or you are looking to integrate a mixing and dosing system into a complex production line.

Our engineering system solutions are developed and implemented in close collaboration with our material experts, suppliers, and our customers and always based on the latest safety standards, technical performance, and environmental compatibility. Our team of highly specialized engineers ensure this.

The FIP mixing and dosing systems used to apply polyurethane, silicone, and other reactive substances, consist of essentially three modules: the mixing head, the material preparation, and process control and automation. Therefore, there are different dispensing equipment options that allow you to tailor the system layout to your specific production process.

We differentiate between two FIP technologies: the classic low-pressure FIPFG technology for mixed-cell polyurethane foam, and the newly developed medium-pressure technology FIP CC for closed-cell polyurethane foam that distinguishes itself through the most minimal level of water absorption. Our FIP technology also includes the application of non-foamed material such as polyurethane or silicone potting compound and adhesives.

Different Machine Types

DM 502/503/504

The DM 502/503/504 for two to four components are high-performance low-pressure semi- or fully automatic mixing and dosing systems for foam gaskets, bonding, and potting applications of different types of parts. The DM 502/503/504 precisely process liquids, medium to high viscose media such as polyurethane, silicones, epoxy resins, and other polymer reaction substances.

SMART-M and SMART-L

The SMART-M and SMART-L dosing cells are used for foam gaskets, bonding, and potting applications of the widest range of parts in semi- and fully automatic operations. Due to their modular and compact design, they can be easily integrated into different manufacturing concepts. The SMART-M is designed for two components, and the SMART-L for two, or optionally, three components.

DM 70 COMPACT

The DM 70 Compact is a mixing and dosing system for one or two components and used for manual operation. The materials to be processed can be mixed by a static mixing head (MK 20) or a dynamic mixing head (MK 50). All system components are mounted on a mobile chassis. The DM 70 COMPACT allows the manual application of different materials using a hand pistol.

3E Dosing Cell

The 3E dosing cell is a low-pressure mixing and dosing system of two components for semi-automatic and fully automatic application of sealing foams, adhesives, and potting compounds to a wide range of parts. This machine precisely processes liquid, medium and high viscosity compounds such as polyurethanes or other polymeric reactive materials. A shuttle table is optionally available. It permits the single-level processing of parts on two support platforms.

3E dosing cell is designed so the operator can easily and safely execute the broadest range of tasks. It is operated via the easy-to-handle, multifunctional mobile panel MP 2 with integrated 10.1” (WXGA TFT) touch screen – a significant simplification for contour programming of components. The pre-adjustability and regulation of all system and process parameters ensure consistent production processing of the dosing cell.

FIP CC Mixing and Dosing Machine

With the DM 502 CC mixing and dosing system, we offer automation solutions for the application of closed-cell 2-component polyurethane sealing foams Fermapor CC. The DM 502 CC produces a sealing foam that shows a foam seal with an almost completely reacted dimension immediately after dosing – a great advantage for process-related quality control. The application process itself follows the well-known FIPFG technology (Formed-In-Place-Foam-Gasket), which is the production standard in many industries and stands for high process reliability.

Plants with 6-Axis Robots

In machine layouts with 6-axis robots, the robot arm picks up the part and moves it according to the contour geometry under the fixed mixing head. The material is thus applied seamlessly from start to finish. Upside-down applications are also possible for materials with high viscosity. For the SONDERHOFF MOLD’N SEAL inline production process, both the mixing and dosing system and the 6-axis robot are combined with an injection molding system.
