New Product Release: Adhesives Technology for Paper Straw

Research suggests that there are over 400 billion plastic straws consumed annually around the world. Paper straws emerged as the sustainable alternative to traditional plastic straws. The shift is driven by global and local regulations and consumers’ increasing awareness about the environment. Paper straws are made of 2 or 3 layers of paper which are held together by a small amount of adhesive. Once discarded, paper straws degrade faster than plastic with less impact to the environment.

Henkel’s AQUENCE^® ST Products offer a high-quality adhesive solution, which can be employed on high and low speed machines. AQUENCE^® ST adhesives comply with appreciate food safety standards, have high resistance to liquids and temperature extremes. Yielding an enjoyable experience to consumer and under certain conditions paper straws manufactured with AQUENCE^® have been shown to be compostable.
