- Description
- Technical specification
LOCTITE® EA E-20HP is a 2-part, high impact- and humidity-resistant structural bonder. Once mixed, it cures at room temperature to form a tough bondline with high peel resistance. It has a very high shear strength of 33 N/mm², is resistant to a wide range of chemicals and solvents, and withstands temperatures up to 150°C (302°F). Ideal for metal-to-metal bonding, it can also be used as a magnet bonder for surface and interior permanent magnets (SPM & IPM), and is an excellent electrical insulator. Bonds a wide variety of plastics, metals, dry concrete and architectural materials. Typical applications include marine in-line shaft generators.

How to use
It is recommended to use the correct LOCTITE® cleaner for the surface to be bonded (such as LOCTITE® SF 7070) to degrease and clean surfaces prior to applying the adhesive.
Place cartridge in dispense gun. Remove cap from cartridge. Dispense a small amount so that material is coming out of both sides. Attach mix nozzle and dispense a bead at least half of the length of the nozzle. The material is ready to use.
Apply a bead of material to one of the surfaces to be bonded. Join the parts and fixture in a way to prevent movement of the part until handling strength is obtained.
FAQ
The chemistry of these adhesives involves an exothermic reaction that releases heat. Therefore, caution should be taken when dispensing large volumes of adhesive. Temperature limits vary between 180°F to 350°F (82°C to 177°C).
For 2-part epoxies use the general rule that every 50°F added to cure conditions will reduce cure time by half. It is best to not exceed 302°F. If the exothermic reaction disrupts the bond line (bubbles/foams), heat bump for 2 hours at 150°F, reduce mass of adhesive used, or gel at room temperature before heat bumping.
Glass transition temperature (Tg) is the temperature at which plastics start to go from glassy solids to a rubbery soft material like a silicone.
