LOCTITE 480 Instant Adhesive

Features and Benefits

Available sizes:

LOCTITE 480 is a toughened, fast curing instant adhesive that is ideal for bonding metal to metal, rubber or magnets, particularly in humid environments.
LOCTITE® 480 is an instant adhesive designed for the assembly of difficult-to-bond materials which require uniform stress distribution and high tensile and/or shear strength. It is a rubber-reinforced adhesive offering increased flexibility and peel strength along with enhanced shock resistance. The product provides rapid bonding for a wide range of materials, including metals, plastics and rubbers. LOCTITE 480 exhibits good resistance in humid environments.
  • For applications where shock resistance is required or shock or peel loads are present

How to

Step by Step Guide

1. Preparation - Cleaning

It is recommended to use the correct LOCTITE® cleaner for the surface to be bonded (such as LOCTITE® SF 7070™) to degrease and clean surfaces prior to applying the adhesive.

2. Preparation - Priming

To improve adhesion on difficult to bond plastic surfaces, apply LOCTITE® SF 770™ to the bond area by brushing or dipping. Avoid applying excess primer. Allow the primer to dry.

3. Preparation - Activation

If cure speed is too slow, use appropriate activator LOCTITE® SF 7452™. Apply activator to one bond surface by spray, brush or dipping (not primed surfaces). Allow the activator to dry.

4. Application

Apply adhesive to one side or part.Recommended dispensing equipment: for precise dispensing of small amounts of adhesive, use dispensing needles.

5. Assembly

Assemble parts immediately. The parts should be accurately located as the short fixture time leaves little opportunity for adjustment. Bond should be held or clamped until the adhesive has fixtured. Hint: if necessary, excess product can be cured by activator LOCTITE® SF 7452™. Spray or drop activator onto excess product.
