The customer needed environmental and electrical protection of a Wearable Pulse Oximeter, to enables remote monitoring of recovering patients, including those recovering from COVID19 at home. The common usage was estimated for 2 weeks. Traditional manufacturing processes as Injection Molding and Potting were not desirable solutions due to high pressure on sensitive PCB components by using Injection Molding and long process times. For Potting an extra housing would have been required which was also not a favored option.
TECHNOMELT PA 673 provides an excellent environmental resistance and protects the sensitive PCB components of the wearable pulse oximeter. With low pressure molding no high pressure was applied to the electronical component and the process times were short.
With TECHNOMELT® PA 673 the PCB component has been protected against environmental impacts. Furthermore, lower pressure has been applied compared to traditional manufacturing methods such as Injection Molding, and therefore, the production process is electronic component friendly. Additionally, the process times have been significantly shortened compared to potting manufacturing and handling with a one component product, results in less cleaning requirements.
