Henkel's R&D specialists have developed a new dispensing equipment – the digital coater – that makes it possible to apply LOCA with full design flexibility for various types of display geometries. The digital coating process involves multiple nozzles that work in harmony to implement the desired pattern with defined edges and accuracy on dispensing.

Features & benefits from this coating process:

  • Full design flexibility for various types of display geometries
  • Precision edge control and accuracy on dispensing
  • Automatic & Speedy application
  • Full line utilization
  • Lower scrap rate

LOCA material is applied accurately in a pre-defined pitch onto the display using multiple coating heads, allowing the material for a few seconds to coalesce to a compact film. Appropriate achievable cycle times are between 30-90 seconds and this is dependent upon display size and number of coating heads used in process.

Subsequent LOCA digital coating the components are ready to use for any further process steps like vacuum lamination followed by final cure...

The digital coater equipment presented is available in our center of competence for displays, and can be any time used for teaching, demonstration, design evaluation and prototyping.
