Wherever there is the likelihood of bolts, fasteners, flanges, and other clamped surfaces and substrates corroding and subsequently seizing, anti-seize lubricants are used to mitigate this issue to facilitate disassembly and maintenance. LOCTITE® anti-seize lubricants deliver superior performance across a wide range of applications and materials.

Used frequently within applications with high-temperatures and high-pressure loads where environmental exposure may accelerate potential seizure of components and fasteners, anti-seize lubricating compounds are generally applied during assembly, and once again during reassembly after maintenance procedures.

These highly important compounds are critical within many industries, and whether assembling components within automotive applications or used within more complex assemblies within aerospace or industrial engineering, high temperature anti-seize greases and lubricants are crucial to the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of systems.

Henkel’s catalogue of LOCTITE® anti-seize lubricants deliver outstanding performance in the most challenging environments.

High temperature anti-seize lubricants within the Henkel range display the following characteristics:

  • High resistance to galling, corrosion, and seizure
  • Resistant to acids, ammonia, acetylene, and other corrosive chemicals
  • Excellent lubrication to allow easy disassembly
  • High operating temperature ranges
  • Easy to apply through a range of application methods
  • Suitable for a broad range of metals

Anti-Seize Compound Types

A variety of anti-seize lubricating compounds exist to allow manufacturers to select the ideal formula for specific applications. Ideally suited for a variety of materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, and titanium, all of our anti-seize lubricants operate at high temperatures and can be applied using brush, tube, or spray.

Copper-Based Anti-Seize Lubricants

Copper anti-seize sprays operate in the same way as other lubricants, protecting metals from rust, corrosion, and seizure. Containing copper flakes, graphite, other extreme pressure additives, it also offers electrical conductivity and will not compromise soft metals, unlike some other anti-seize compounds.

Copper anti-seize uses include sparkplug threads and ground screws, as well as other automotive applications such as screws, nuts, pipes, exhaust bolts, and brake caliper bolts. Copper anti-seize pastes and lubricants are resistant to very high temperatures of up to 1800°F (982°C). Additionally, multiple application options are available, including brush, tube, and stick.

Zinc-Based Anti-Seize Lubricants

Used mainly for threaded and unthreaded aluminum or aluminum alloy components to prevent seizing during assembly and disassembly, zinc anti-seize compounds provide corrosion protection and prevent rust within iron-containing substrates. LOCTITE® zinc anti-seize compounds are at the forefront of complex mechanical assemblies in the most challenging environments.

With typical operating ranges between -20°F to +750°F (-30 °C to +400 °C), it can be dispensed from a or a 1 lb. can with both manual and automated processes catered for by Henkel’s range of technologies.

Metal-Free Anti-Seize Lubricants

LOCTITE® metal free anti-seize lubricants deliver a unique range of benefits for use in environments where high salt and humidity are present. For instance, these materials are particularly suitable for marine applications. Metal-free anti-seize compounds protect metal surfaces from corrosion in challenging environmental conditions

Formulated with materials such as calcium and graphite, temperature resistance can reach as high as 2,400°F (1,315°C) while also continuing to offer effective anti-seize properties in low temperature conditions. Henkel’s metal-free anti-seize products are available in brush top cans or tubes.

Marine-Grade Anti-Seize Lubricants

Marine grade anti-seize compounds specifically target those environments where salt, humidity, and high levels of exposure to water spray and wash-out are present.

Featuring excellent lubricity in these challenging environments, marine grade anti-seize lubricants prevent galvanic corrosion in both fresh and salt water, with a broad range of temperature resistance  preventing seizure of aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and soft metals.

Henkel’s marine grade anti-seize is ABS approved and formulated to be metal-free.

Food Grade Anti-Seize

Food grade anti-seize compounds are manufactured from white oil and include extreme pressure (EP) additives. Our food grade anti-seize lubricants are designed to prevent friction, seizing, and galling in stainless steel and other metal parts within food processing machinery.

Henkel’s food grade anti-seize lubricants feature temperature resistance up to +750°C and can be used across a wide range of food processing machinery.

Anti-Seize Compounds Applications

The diversity of metal substrates used in all types of industries requires dedicated anti-seize compounds that can meet specific demands in a variety of environments. In general, high temperature anti-seize lubricants are required in areas where high levels or friction and heat generation are present. At the other end of the spectrum, anti-seize lubricating compounds must also withstand lower temperatures where environmental conditions dictate.

Stainless Steel Substrates

Stainless steel substrates pose numerous challenges when it comes to seizure and galling. Using anti-seize lubricants for stainless steel can help minimize many of these issues and facilitate assembly and disassembly a for maintenance and repair.

However, it is important to remember that while many compounds exist for stainless steel, copper anti-seize on stainless steel will create inter-crystalline corrosion which can cause parts to crack or break when under heavy loads.

Titanium Substrates

Anti-seize for titanium is commonly used in the most demanding aerospace applications and other areas where extremely lightweight fasteners and connectors are used. Anti-seize for titanium bolts prevents galling and corrosion, and nickel-based compounds are usually exceptionally effective in these areas.
