Part, build and assembly applications support all elements of designing and manufacturing aircrafts.

Under the LOCTITE® and BONDERITE® brand, Henkel provides a range of composite and assembly solutions for primary and secondary structures to propulsion and interiors that are defining the way modern airplanes are built.

Interior

Interior applications encompass everything inside the pressure shell of an aircraft from the passenger compartment and cockpit through to the cargo hold. From the systems, sidewalls, seats, flooring, ducting, bulkheads, class dividers and ceiling panels to the stowage bins, all these different applications require adhesives and fire resistant materials with a unique combination of properties and processing to ensure safe, light weight and easy assembly.

Henkel provides a range of composite and assembly solutions for aircraft interior applications that are defining the way modern airplanes are built. Our broad portfolio of high performance LOCTITE solutions includes:

  • Fire retardant materials for improved sustainability and safety
  • High strain paste adhesives
  • High temperature filled paste systems

Primary Structures

Primary structures are those that bear aerodynamic loads and are critical to flight. Wings, fuselage, empennage (tail) and control surface applications require a unique combination of properties and processing to ensure strong, lightweight, anti-corrosive, and flexible aircraft design.

Henkel provides a range of composite solutions for primary structures that deliver the optimum material customized for the relevant application. Our broad portfolio of high performance LOCTITE and BONDERITE solutions includes film and paste adhesives, syntactic, potting, core fill, surfacing and lightning strike materials, surface treatment solutions, cleaners, deoxidizers, conversion coatings and maskants.

Propulsion

Propulsion applications present the most demanding of aircraft environments. Engines, nacelles and auxiliary power units experience extreme temperatures, require long term durability and undergo mechanical and acoustic fatigue.

Henkel has developed a family of products under the LOCTITE brand to meet these extreme demands including:

  • Film and paste adhesives
  • Impregnated peel plies
  • Potting compounds
  • Syntactic materials
  • Surfacing and lightning strike films
  • Abradable seals

Henkel’s BONDERITE surface treatment solutions for metals structures cover the full range of OEM and MRO requirements including cleaners, deoxidizers, conversion coatings and compressor washes for engine cleaning.

Secondary Structures

Secondary structures encompass a wide range of components across the wings, fuselage and tail of an aircraft. Fairings, access panels and non-pressurized doors require a unique combination of properties and processing. Many of these are sandwich structures which present particular challenges for design and manufacture. The applications require materials and solutions with high mechanical performance, light weight and cost effective manufacturing.

Henkel provides a range of composite and assembly solutions for secondary structures that are defining the way modern airplanes are built. Our broad portfolio of high performance LOCTITE solutions include:

  • Film and paste adhesives
  • Surfacing films
  • Lightning strike materials
  • Potting compounds
  • Core splice and core fill
  • Syntactic material

Henkel’s BONDERITE surface treatment solutions for metals structures cover the full range of OEM and MRO requirements including cleaners, deoxidizers, conversion coatings.
