Water Filtration Material Solutions

Henkel is committed to research and investment to address the global problem of water scarcity.

Technology continues to disrupt the industry with solutions that offer more water production efficiency, with less energy, and long lasting filter systems. Henkel solutions include:

  • Printed Feed Spacers – Henkel has teamed up with Aqua Membranes Inc. located in Albuquerque, New Mexico to introduce Printed Spacer Technology®, which shows promise to significantly affect the cost and availability of water.
Spiral Wound
  • Membrane adhesives – a portfolio of products to optimize cost and performance on any variation of membrane.
  • Fold protection system – automatable filtration adhesive system to eliminate tapes or messy protective adhesives. Apply in seconds, cure in seconds, and protect the fold better than other systems.
  • Filament winding adhesives – traditional epoxy bath systems or unique light curing technology that eliminate waste, reduce energy consumption as no ovens required, and increase the production throughput by reducing cycle times from hours to minutes. Imagine a traditional spiral wound application cycle being complete in less than 5 minutes.
  • Hollow fiber potting – Henkel has a complete portfolio of potting materials, 2-component polyurethanes, epoxies, silicones, and light-curing acrylates. Henkel has introduced NEO hollow fiber potting technology which is an isocyanate-free alternative to 2-component polyurethane or epoxy. Think: label-free with properties of epoxy and the processing characteristics of 2-component polyurethane.

Air Filtration Material Solutions

Air filters need to consistently produce clean air while operating in harsh conditions. Henkel air filter adhesive solutions are built to withstand high temperatures and chemical exposure. Our adhesives include bonding, edge sealing, and pleating treatments, as well as air filter adhesive sprays that can be applied to several scenarios, whether it be large-scale and industrial, small-scale and residential, or on-the-go and automotive applications.

Our hot melt air filter glues work in heavy-duty construction vehicles, bringing durability and high bond strength to demanding everyday conditions. Certain air filters, like those in labs, clean rooms, or assembly lines, compromise crucial data or manufacturing by inadequately filtering dust or other contaminants. We create a variety of applications – whether hot melt, water-based, or polyurethane adhesives – that are industry approved and guarantee air particles don’t prevent you from getting proper data or production from your operation. They also function widely in residential spaces by securing the frame bonding of HVAC filters, which leads to inhabitants breathing reliable, clean air.

Fluid Filtration Materials Solutions

Whether for filtering food and beverages, mechanical fluids, or medical applications, efficient adhesive solutions are essential to several industries beyond water filtration. Certain fluid filters are used in engines and equipment where they are exposed to hot oils or solvents. It is essential that the filter adhesives used in these applications can withstand such conditions so they can continue and regulate the flow of fluids that keep the engines and equipment running. Our range of hot melts, one- and two-part epoxies, and polyurethane adhesives are designed for a variety of temperature and chemical resistance to meet the specific filter requirements and the application environment.

Furthermore, as quality healthcare becomes more widely accessible across the world, the use and need for durable, effective medical filtration will continue to rise. With Henkel’s experience in the medical device industry, we have designed two-part polyurethane adhesives than can optimize the medical filter potting in dialyzers while they remove unneeded fluid from a patient’s blood. Their customization means these adhesives can be repurposed to target specific areas of your medical manufacturing process.
