Shear strength

The resistance of an adhesive to forces acting on the glued surface at an angle of separation of 180 degrees.

Volatile substances in which adhesive particles can be dissolved up to a very high concentration. Solvent-based adhesives harden by vaporization. Water is also a solvent.

A distinction is made between absorbent and non-absorbent substrates. Absorbent substrates (e.g. wood, plaster) partially absorb moisture (e.g. adhesives).
Non-absorbent ones (e.g. tiles, mirror, glass) do not.
