Henkel (Thailand) and Henkel Adhesive Technologies (India) cooperate with Wellbound Worldwide in India, a machine manufacturer, to showcase new adhesive technologies for book binding machines at Pack Print International 2013.

The Packaging, Consumer Goods and Construction Adhesives (AI) business unit of Henkel’s Adhesive Technologies business sector recently showcased its new generation of technologies at PACK PRINT INTERNATIONAL 2013 at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre. The exhibition was organized by The Thai Packaging Association and The Thai Printing Association in partnership with Messe Dusseldorf Asia.

At the event, Henkel successfully demonstrated the application know-how of its adhesive products as well as dispensers-applicators. In particular, the book titled “A Book Journey”, which illustrates how Henkel adhesives are used in the bookbinding process, generated much interest among visitors over the four-day event.

Initially, the “Henkel-Wellbound team” focused on retrofitting PUR systems in existing bookbinding lines in India. Wellbound then proceeded to develop a range of pre-melting and dispensing devices; its recent device enables the volumetric control of adhesive. The company also perfected the application systems with both open tank (roller) and slot coater (nozzle) systems, and built machines around these systems.

"With Henkel's global expertise and Wellbound's capability to convert the know-how into machines, we are in the forefront in terms of our capabilities for reducing the complexities of PUR binding, and at the same time lowering the investment costs," said Ashish Pradhan, Director of Henkel Adhesives India. “We will leverage this advantage in order to increase the adoption of PUR in other parts of Asia.”

“Henkel Thailand provides many of our adhesive products for the Graphic Arts industries. We would like to promote the new “PUR Hotmelt” technology for book binding. These adhesive solutions not only increase the productivity, but also help us to reduce the cost of production in the long run,” said Krit Taweepansarn, Graphic Arts, Paper Converting, Wood and Construction Sales Manager of Henkel Adhesive Technologies.
